Why Trying A Spin Class at Core Gym Could Rejuvenate Your Fitness

We’ve increased the volume of spin classes at our specially designed spin-studio.

This popular activity now runs for 13 sessions a week, but there’s nothing unlucky about joining one of these spirited sessions…

Give It A Spin

At Core Gym, we’ve scheduled our spin classes to run every day throughout the week in order to fit around your routine. On Mondays and Tuesdays, we offer both morning and evening sessions.

Unlike outdoor cycling, you don’t have to adjust to the speed of other members. So whether you’re new to using an exercise bike or a keen cyclist, you can work at your own pace during a spin class with the social benefits of exercising in a group.

An All-Round Workout Wonder

Another added advantage of attending a spin class compared to regular cycling is that you’re unable to ‘free wheel’, meaning that you are forced to exert all your muscles.

The following muscle groups are put through their paces during a spin class:

  • Core
  • Glutes
  • Hamstring
  • Upper body
  • Quadriceps
  • Calves
  • Back

Balancing on the bike works your upper body and core, whilst pedalling against resistance engages your quad muscles, hamstring and calves.

The more you attend spin classes, the more you’ll notice your body acclimate to the exercise, becoming more toned and built for endurance.

The Cream Of Cardiovascular Training

It’s widely known that cycling is the optimum exercise for the lungs.

A 2018 study found that participants who attended a spin class increased their strength and endurance, as well as lowered cholesterol levels, without changing their diets.

A spin class contains similar advantages to other forms of cardiovascular training such as running, but is less harsh on your joints.

The American Council on Exercise calculated that your heart rate can typically reach within 75-96% of your maximum heart rate during a spin class.

Our instructors keep classes varied with an upbeat musical tempo to motivate you. The short bursts of activity involved in sprinting followed by recovery provide an excellent source of High Intensity Interval Training (HITT) which is vital if you’re looking to lose weight.

Want to be filled with the vibes of a warm summer’s day? High intensity exercise such as that practised in a spin class prompts your body to release endorphins, or ‘happiness hormones’ into your bloodstream.
